Description:
The Smith Barney FA Technology Group, working closely with the Technology Strategy Department, manages the prioritization and implementation of new technology initiatives for the Private Client Division. The team works directly with Financial Advisors and all Private Client businesses to help translate business needs into technology initiatives. This involves leading interactive focus groups, writing business requirements, and managing projects through to successful implementation.
Responsibilities
Platform Project Manager position will be focused heading up requirements gathering sessions, knowledge gathering of existing FA desktop applications, business relationship management, as well as documentation of analysis for the implementation of a new Wealth Management platform. This person will manage business analysts in writing the business requirements documentation that will lead to the development of the related functional specifications. This Project Manager will work closely with internal constituents to insure coordination between related efforts including the execution of project plans as well as managing issue tracking. They will work closely with both the business and technology in a way that encourages open communication and a positive work environment.
Note that this is a business-position rather than a pure technology position - it requires the ability to understand both sides of the equation and to provide necessary direction to the projects.
General Knowledge/Skills RequiredKnowledge of Wealth Management framework/platform and workflow is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of technical frameworks as it relates to Wealth Management Platforms
Ability to translate strategic vision into manageable components as it relates to platform components for Wealth Management (ie Entitlements, Search, Navigation, User Preferences, …)
Ability to review and evaluate the usability standards of a new web-based desktop
Manage requirements gathering and documentation, scenario modeling, information architecture, content strategy, interface development, prototyping and UAT testing
Work closely with the team on problem analysis and data gathering, driving conflict/issue resolution
Proven capability to operate as a team member on a major development or conversion project
Demonstrated understanding of the financial services business and a strong interest in technology
Strong collaboration, relationship management, communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills
Good judgment, analytical skills, logical thinker, detail oriented, strong follow through
Ability to drive projects to completion, as well as manage multiple, competing priorities
Ability to understand, track, and communicate business issues
Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project management
Ability to take input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately apply comments/feedback
Specifications / Qualifications:
BA/BS with 7+ years of financial services (brokerage and/or banking) experience
Proven experience managing a large initiative throughout the entire software development lifecycle
Exposure to salesforce.com. NorthStar, Naviplan and other third-party competitors within this field preferred
Proficient experience with MS Office, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
